A few months ago, one of my girlfriends Raquel won a free trip to Brisbane for the weekend so a couple of girls and I all jumped at the chance for a girls weekend getaway.
The prize Raquel won were return Tiger air flights from Melbourne to Brisbane and a one nights stay at the Mantra Richmont hotel, Brisbane. So naturally tickets and accommodation were booked on the same flight and accommodation.
Being a travel agent myself, I’ve heard my share of terrible Tiger Air reviews so I was a tad hesitant to fly with them, hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
Online check-ins were available 72 hours prior to the departure time, which worked out to be a breeze. Once we’ve check-in online, we will receive a booking reservation code which we enter upon the self check-in service at the airport. This is where we print our own luggage tags (if purchased check-in luggage allowance).
Seats weren’t the most spacious, but that is expected from a budget airline.
Despite the bad rep Tiger Air gets, our flights were right on schedule so for the price difference as opposed to flying with Virgin Australia or Qantas, I wouldn’t mind flying interstate with them again.
Once the girls and I got settled in, we lazed around for most of the day before getting ready for I love R&B Saturdays. From popping bottles to having VIP access, it was definitely a night to remember.
Getting a taste of Brisbane for the first time makes me glad to call Melbourne my home…for there is a reason why we’ve been nominated as the most liveable city for the sixth consecutive year! 😉 Till my next trip….. X
